Tree planting has been understood as a productive and environmentally positive practice for a long time now. However, we are only just beginning to comprehend just how beneficial planting new trees is for our environment and for our future.

A group of scientists from Western Sydney University recently discovered the potent power that young forests have in tackling our carbon dioxide crisis by proving to be more capable than mature forests in removing carbon from the air and safely storing it away.

Further researched showed that the world’s younger forests have the potential to store an extra seven year’s worth of global emissions. Alongside new forest planting initiatives, the study communicates a necessary call to protect and preserve regrowth forests around the world that are often over-looked and ignored when it comes to environmental protection schemes.

The constant negative environmental news that we hear on the daily can often leave us feeling disgruntled and disempowered. Studies such as this can help illuminate a path of positivity and practicality by allowing us to recognise the innate capacity that our planet has in healing itself and the simple yet powerful ways that we can assist in this journey.
